RAID Dragon's Lair Guide: Teams and Tips for Beating the Dragon

Dragon's Lair is one of the first gear dungeons most players farm. Here's how the fight works, what team roles you need and how to push to higher stages.

The Dragon boss from Dragon's Lair

Dragon’s Lair is a gear dungeon and one of the friendliest for new teams. Its boss, the Dragon, has an enormous HP pool and hits the whole team with fire attacks – which tells you exactly how to beat it.

How the fight works

The battle has several waves of minions followed by the Dragon. The Dragon:

  • Hits your entire team with area attacks.
  • Has huge HP, so fights last many turns.
  • Becomes more dangerous the longer the fight goes, so damage speed matters.

Team roles

RoleWhy
Poison or HP BurnDamage based on the boss’s max HP is the best way to chew through it
Decrease DefenseBoosts the rest of your damage
Decrease AttackReduces the Dragon’s AoE damage dramatically
Healer or shielderKeeps everyone alive through repeated area attacks
AoE damageClears the minion waves quickly

A classic early team includes your starter (Kael’s poison is excellent here), a Decrease Defense champion, a healer and one more damage dealer.

Clearing the waves

Minion waves drain your health before the boss arrives. To handle them:

  • Use AoE skills on the first waves, but save long-cooldown skills for the boss when possible.
  • Turn off cooldown skills in auto-battle settings if they keep being used on minions.
  • Bring champions with Lifesteal to recover between waves.

Pushing higher stages

  • Speed matters. Your debuffers should act first.
  • Accuracy matters. Higher stages have higher Resistance – see our accuracy guide.
  • Survival beats damage. If you’re dying, add Decrease Attack or more HP and DEF before adding damage.
  • Check the Dragon’s affinity and avoid bringing key debuffers who are weak to it. More in our affinity guide.

What to farm

Like the other gear dungeons, higher stages drop higher-rank gear. Most players aim for the stage where 6-star gear starts dropping reliably and farm there. Check the dungeon’s drop list in-game to see which sets it offers – each gear dungeon has its own pool.

Common mistakes

  1. Going in without Decrease Attack and losing to the Dragon’s AoE.
  2. Stacking raw damage instead of poison or HP Burn.
  3. Auto-battling with long cooldowns that get wasted on minions.

Dragon’s Lair rewards a balanced team more than a single strong champion. Build the roles above and it becomes one of your most reliable farms. Next, learn the Ice Golem’s Peak.
