RAID Champion Rarities: What to Keep, What to Feed and What to Build
Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythical – a practical guide to RAID rarities and how to decide which champions deserve your resources.
RAID throws hundreds of champions at you. Most of them will end up as food, a few will end up carrying your account, and knowing the difference early saves months of wasted resources.
The rarity ladder
| Rarity | Colour | Typical role on your account |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Grey | Food for ranking up |
| Uncommon | Green | Food, with rare exceptions |
| Rare | Blue | Food – but several rares are genuinely excellent |
| Epic | Purple | Core team members, especially from events and fusions |
| Legendary | Gold | Usually your strongest champions |
| Mythical | Red | Top-tier champions with two forms and unique kits |
Higher rarity means higher base stats and usually stronger skills, but rarity alone does not make a champion good.
Rares that punch above their weight
Some rares stay in endgame teams for years because their skills do one job extremely well – Decrease Defense, Weaken, team speed buffs, turn meter boosts or Block Debuffs. Before feeding any rare, ask: does this champion place a debuff or buff my team is missing? If yes, keep at least one copy.
We list our favourites in the free champions tier list.
Epics: the backbone of most accounts
Epics are where many accounts find their core. They are easier to obtain than legendaries – through fusions, events, missions and Ancient Shards – and many of them define entire game modes. Treat every new epic seriously: read all three skills and the passive before deciding.
Legendaries and Mythicals
Legendaries come mostly from Ancient, Void and Sacred shards, fusions and special events. Mythicals are rarer still and can switch between two forms in battle, each with its own skills.
Don’t panic if your first legendary is “low tier”. A legendary with even one strong skill is often a useful piece in a specific dungeon or Doom Tower boss.
A simple keep-or-feed checklist
- Does it fill a missing role (debuffer, healer, speed booster, cleanser)?
- Is it useful in at least one content type you’re stuck on?
- Would it be your best option for that job right now?
- Do you have the vault space?
If you answer “no” to the first three, it’s food. If you’re unsure, put it in the Vault instead of feeding it – you can always come back.
Common rarity mistakes
- Feeding a unique rare because a better-looking epic arrived. Many rares and epics work together rather than replacing each other.
- Leveling every legendary you pull. Focus on the ones that solve a problem.
- Ignoring duplicates. Duplicates of epics and legendaries can often be used to strengthen the original instead of being thrown away.
Once you know what to keep, you need to know how to grow it. Our rank-up guide is the next step.
