Call of Dragons Darklings Guide: Patrols, Forts and PvE Rewards
Darklings are Call of Dragons' main PvE enemies. How to hunt patrols, join fort rallies, set up PvE talents and turn darkling hunting into steady rewards.
Darklings are the corrupted creatures that roam the Call of Dragons map. Hunting them is the backbone of PvE: it gives hero experience, resources and items, and it’s one of the safest ways to grow without fighting other players.
Types of darkling targets
| Target | How you fight it | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Darkling patrols | Solo marches | Daily hero XP and quests |
| Darkling forts and strongholds | Alliance rallies | Bigger rewards, teamwork |
| Event darklings | Varies by event | Event points and special rewards |
Hunting patrols solo
- Start with low-level patrols and move up as your army grows.
- Check the army strength shown on the target before attacking.
- Use your main hero pair – patrols are a great way to level them.
- Heal between fights; wounded troops lower your damage.
Joining rallies
Forts are too strong for a single march, so alliance members rally together:
- Join every rally you can – even a small army earns rewards.
- Send your strongest army to rallies started by experienced members.
- Watch the timer so your march arrives before the rally sets off.
PvE talents
Many heroes have talent branches that boost damage against darklings. When you plan to spend a day hunting:
- Switch to PvE-focused talents if you have a free talent reset.
- Pick an artifact with area damage – see our artifacts guide.
- Use heroes whose skills hit multiple targets.
Our hero pairing guide covers how to plan talent builds.
Using your energy wisely
Attacking darklings uses action points or energy that recover over time. Don’t let them cap:
- Spend energy before logging off so it refills while you’re away.
- Save some energy for events that reward darkling kills.
Common mistakes
- Attacking targets far above your strength and losing troops.
- Ignoring rallies because your march feels small.
- Letting energy sit full for hours.
- Fighting with heavily wounded troops.
Darkling hunting is steady, safe progress. Make it part of your daily routine and your heroes will level up faster than you expect. For alliance-scale PvE, continue with our behemoths guide.
