Sooner or later every Call of Dragons player meets another army on the map. PvP can be intense and expensive, but a few fundamentals help you win more fights and lose fewer troops.

Know the fight before it starts

Before engaging, check:

  • The enemy’s army type – infantry, marksmen, cavalry, magic or flying.
  • Their heroes, if visible.
  • Where you are – inside your territory or deep in theirs.
  • Who else is nearby – reinforcements change everything.

A fight that looks even on paper is often decided by these details.

Terrain and movement

Call of Dragons lets armies move fairly freely, but terrain still matters for ground troops:

  • Narrow paths limit how quickly armies can reach you.
  • Flying units cross obstacles and can strike from unexpected directions.
  • Distance from home affects how fast you can reinforce or retreat.

Use terrain to choose where fights happen instead of being caught in the open.

Build armies for PvP

PvP armies benefit from:

  1. A focused unit type that matches your hero talents. See our unit types guide.
  2. PvP-oriented talents on your main hero pair. See our hero pairing guide.
  3. An artifact for burst or control. See our artifacts guide.

Retreat is a valid strategy

Losing troops is costly. Retreat when:

  • The enemy is clearly stronger.
  • Reinforcements are coming for them, not you.
  • Your army is heavily wounded.

A retreat costs a few minutes; a lost army costs days.

Defending your city

  • Keep a shield up when offline during dangerous periods.
  • Stay in alliance territory – see our alliance guide.
  • Keep troops healed so your defence is ready.

Fight with your alliance

Most important PvP happens between alliances. Follow your leaders’ plans, attack together and avoid starting fights on your own – solo skirmishes can drag the whole alliance into a war it didn’t plan for.

Common mistakes

  • Attacking without scouting.
  • Fighting far from home without support.
  • Sending wounded armies.
  • Never retreating.

PvP rewards preparation and patience. Pick your fights, use terrain and stay close to your alliance – the wins will follow.
