Rise of KingdomsGathering Guide Your city produces resources on its own, but gathering on the map is where the real income comes from in Rise of Kingdoms. A good gathering setup keeps your City Hall and research moving.
The resources
| Resource | Used for |
|---|---|
| Food | Troop training, many upgrades |
| Wood | Buildings and research |
| Stone | Higher-level buildings |
| Gold | Advanced research and upgrades |
Early on, food and wood are the main needs; later, stone and gold become the bottlenecks.
Gathering commanders
Commanders with a Gathering talent tree collect faster and carry more. A dedicated gathering commander:
- Fills a march with more resources.
- Finishes sooner, so you can send them out again.
- Frees combat commanders for barbarians and fights.
See our commander pairings guide for how talent trees work.
Choosing resource points
- Gather your bottleneck resource first.
- Prefer higher-level points – more resources per trip.
- Stay inside alliance territory – it’s safer and often boosts gathering.
- Keep trips short so marches cycle faster.
Keeping marches safe
- Gather inside alliance territory whenever possible.
- Avoid gathering near hostile players during conflict.
- Recall marches if enemies are nearby.
- Use weaker troops for gathering rather than your best ones.
Daily routine
- Send every free march to gather.
- Recall and resend as marches return.
- Use gathering boosts during events that reward gathering.
Common mistakes
- Idle march slots.
- Gathering low-level points.
- Using combat commanders to gather.
- Gathering far from alliance territory.
Keep every march busy and safe, and your economy will never hold you back. Our alliance guide explains why territory matters.
