Rise of Kingdoms Barbarians Guide: Hunting, Forts and Action Points
Barbarians are Rise of Kingdoms' best source of commander XP and crafting materials. How to hunt them efficiently, set up Peacekeeping talents and join fort rallies.
Rise of KingdomsBarbarians Guide Hunting barbarians is the backbone of PvE in Rise of Kingdoms. It levels your commanders, drops crafting materials for equipment and fills event quests – all without risking fights with other players.
Barbarians vs barbarian forts
| Target | How you fight it | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Barbarians | Solo marches using action points | Commander XP, materials, daily quests |
| Barbarian forts | Alliance rallies | Bigger rewards, keys and teamwork |
Action points
Attacking barbarians costs action points (AP), which regenerate over time.
- Spend AP before logging off so it refills while you’re away.
- Use AP recovery items during events that reward barbarian kills.
- Don’t let AP sit full – that’s lost progress.
Peacekeeping talents
The Peacekeeping talent tree boosts damage against barbarians and other non-player targets. A commander with Peacekeeping talents:
- Kills barbarians faster.
- Takes fewer losses.
- Can chain several barbarians in one march when strong enough.
See our commander pairings guide for how talent trees work.
Efficient hunting tips
- Pick barbarians your march can beat comfortably.
- Move up levels gradually.
- Heal between hunts – wounded troops lower your damage.
- Use your main Peacekeeping commander to level them.
Barbarian forts
Forts are too strong for one march, so alliance members rally together:
- Join every fort rally you can.
- Send your strongest march.
- Arrive before the rally leaves.
Materials for equipment
Barbarians drop materials used to craft equipment. Hunting them regularly is the main way to build up a stock – see our equipment guide.
Common mistakes
- Letting AP cap.
- Hunting with the wrong talent tree.
- Attacking targets far above your strength.
Barbarian hunting is steady, safe progress. Make it a daily habit and your commanders and equipment will grow quickly.
