RAID Classic Arena Guide: Climbing Tiers and Building a Defence
Arena gives some of the best weekly rewards in RAID. Learn how Classic Arena tiers and tokens work, how to pick fights and how to build an offence and defence.
Classic Arena is RAID’s asynchronous PvP: you attack other players’ defence teams, controlled by the AI, and your own defence team fights back when others attack you. It’s one of the best weekly sources of shards, gems and medals.
How it works
- You spend Arena tokens to attack opponents.
- Winning earns Arena points; losing costs some.
- Points place you into tiers – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, each with sub-levels.
- At the end of each period, you get rewards based on your tier.
- Tokens refill over time and can be refreshed with gems if you’re close to promotion.
Building an offence
The fastest team usually wins Arena. A typical offence includes:
- A speed booster – team Increase Speed or turn-meter boosts so your team acts first.
- A crowd-control champion – Stun, Freeze or Decrease Turn Meter to stop the enemy.
- Two big damage dealers – ideally with AoE nukes.
Our speed guide explains why going first is everything.
Building a defence
Your defence is controlled by the AI, which uses skills in a fairly simple way. Good defences:
- Have high Speed so they act before attackers.
- Use Resistance to shrug off stuns and debuffs – see our accuracy and resistance guide.
- Include revives, cleanses or Block Debuffs.
- Avoid relying on complex combos the AI won’t execute well.
Picking your fights
- Check the opponent’s team before attacking – look at their Speed lead and affinities.
- Avoid teams with heavy AoE stuns if your team lacks Resistance.
- Refresh the opponent list to find better targets when needed.
- Attack weaker defences for steady points; save your tokens for good matches.
Tag Team and Live Arena
RAID also offers Tag Team Arena, which uses several teams in sequence, and Live Arena, where you fight real players in real time with a pick-and-ban draft. Classic Arena is the best place to learn PvP fundamentals before moving on.
Tips for climbing
- Push early in the period before the competition settles.
- Use the Great Hall – it gives permanent Arena bonuses per affinity.
- Upgrade your speed lead – one fast champion changes the whole team.
- Don’t overspend gems on refreshes unless you’re close to a reward threshold.
Arena rewards consistency. A few well-chosen fights every day climb further than marathon sessions once a week.
