RAID Ascension Guide: Potions, Keeps and Who to Ascend First

Ascension gives your champions a permanent stat boost. Learn how potions work, where the Arcane and affinity keeps fit in and how to prioritise your ascensions.

Ascension is one of RAID’s quieter progression systems. It doesn’t change a champion’s skills, but it adds permanent stat boosts that make your core team noticeably tougher and faster to kill bosses.

What ascension needs

Ascending a champion requires potions from the Potion Keeps:

Potion typeComes from
Arcane potionsThe Arcane Keep – needed by every champion
Magic potionsThe Magic Keep
Force potionsThe Force Keep
Spirit potionsThe Spirit Keep
Void potionsThe Void Keep

Every ascension needs Arcane potions plus potions matching the champion’s affinity. Potions come in three grades – Lesser, Greater and Superior – with higher ascension levels needing the higher grades.

The keep schedule

The Arcane Keep is available every day, while the affinity keeps rotate through the week. Check the Potion Keeps screen in the dungeon menu to see which ones are open today, and plan your energy around the days you need.

Who to ascend first

  1. Your main Clan Boss team – a long fight magnifies every stat boost.
  2. Your key debuffer – extra survivability keeps debuffs flowing.
  3. Dungeon carries – the champions every gear team depends on.
  4. Your campaign farmer – only if they’re struggling with Brutal stages.

Don’t ascend champions you plan to replace soon. Potions take real energy to farm.

Farming tips

  • Farm the Arcane Keep regularly – it’s the bottleneck for everyone.
  • Line up affinity keep farming with the champions you’re working on that week.
  • Higher stages drop better grades of potions, so push the keeps like any other dungeon.
  • Events and tournaments sometimes reward potions; claim those first.

Ascension usually comes after a champion is 6 stars, well geared and mastered. It’s the polish on a finished champion, not the first upgrade.

Common mistakes

  • Ascending food or temporary champions.
  • Skipping the Arcane Keep until you suddenly need hundreds of potions.
  • Ignoring the keep schedule and wasting energy on the wrong affinity.

Treat ascension as a long-term project and it’ll steadily make your best champions even better. For the other big progression systems, read our guides on ranking up and masteries.
