Tiles Survive! Beginner Guide: Building a Shelter That Lasts
Start Tiles Survive! the right way – expanding tile by tile, assigning survivors to the right jobs, recruiting heroes and joining an alliance early.
Tiles Survive!Beginner Guide Tiles Survive! drops you into a post-apocalyptic world where every new tile you uncover can bring resources, survivors – or trouble. Here’s how to build a shelter that grows steadily instead of collapsing under its own weight.
How the world works
The map is made of tiles. Unlocking a tile expands your territory and can reveal resources, buildings, loot or enemies. Different areas have different biomes and threats, so expansion is both your growth engine and your biggest risk.
Your first priorities
- Follow the main quests. They are designed to unlock systems in a sensible order and give generous rewards.
- Keep production running. Food and basic materials should never stop – everything else depends on them.
- Expand where it helps. Unlock tiles that connect to resources you actually need before exploring far away.
Survivors and jobs
Survivors are your workforce. Assign them to jobs such as gathering, cooking or production, and keep an eye on:
- Idle survivors – an unassigned survivor is wasted potential.
- Happiness and needs – survivors that are hungry or unhappy work less effectively.
- Bottlenecks – if one resource is always short, move more workers there.
Heroes
Heroes have special skills and lead your efforts against bigger threats. Early on:
- Focus your upgrade materials on a small core team.
- Choose heroes that cover different needs – combat, gathering and support.
- Don’t spread hero upgrades across every new recruit.
Join an alliance
Alliances help with tougher threats, share event rewards and speed things up. Join an active one early – the help you receive is worth far more than going solo.
Beginner mistakes
- Expanding too fast and running out of food or materials to support new tiles.
- Ignoring power and infrastructure, which caps production efficiency.
- Spending premium currency on cosmetic items before core upgrades.
- Forgetting daily rewards and events, which are a big source of free resources.
Grow at a steady pace, keep your survivors busy and fed, and your shelter will outlast the wasteland.
