AFK Arena Ascension Guide: From Elite to Ascended Without Wasting Fodder

Levelling makes a hero stronger, but ascension is where the big jumps come from. Each ascension tier raises a hero’s level cap and stats, and the top tiers unlock entire new upgrade systems.

The ascension ladder

Heroes climb through these tiers:

1. Elite → Elite+
2. Legendary → Legendary+
3. Mythic → Mythic+
4. Ascended, then Ascended stars for further growth

Not every hero can reach the top. Lower-rarity heroes cap out early and are mainly useful as fodder; the heroes you want to invest in are the ones that can reach Ascended.

What ascension costs

Ascending happens in the Temple of Ascension. Depending on the step, you’ll need:

• Copies of the same hero.
• Fodder heroes – often heroes of the same faction at a specific tier.
• Celestial, Hypogean and Dimensional heroes have their own requirements, so check the hero screen before you plan.

The exact requirement for every step is shown in-game. Plan a few steps ahead so you know which heroes to keep.

Plan your fodder

The most common beginner mistake is feeding a hero you’ll need later. Before using any hero as fodder:

1. Check if it’s on your wishlist or part of your future team.
2. Check whether it’s needed for another ascension in that faction.
3. Prefer feeding duplicates and heroes you’ll never build.

Why the top tiers matter
